AI Lab Technician
Location: Design District, North Greenwich, London (On-site)
Type: Full-time, permanent

About the AI Accelerator
The AI Accelerator helps organisations understand and apply artificial intelligence in practical ways that improve how they work. We run workshops, build AI use cases, create training content, and work with businesses to explore how modern AI tools can augment human capability rather than simply automate tasks.
Our AI Adoption Lab in the Design District is a physical space where people come to explore AI tools, attend sessions, build ideas, and learn through hands-on experimentation. We work alongside startups, universities, and businesses at the intersection of AI, education, and innovation.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically curious Lab Technician to help operate and develop the AI Adoption Lab. This is a practical role for someone who enjoys building things, experimenting with technology, and helping others understand how it works. You’ll maintain the lab’s technical setup, build AI workflows, support workshops and events, assist in producing video and educational content, and help visitors turn ideas into working prototypes. The ideal person doesn’t just solve problems once — they think about how to build systems that solve them repeatedly.
What You’ll Do
Lab Operations & Technical Setup
- Maintain and organise the lab’s technical environment, including computers, AI tools, APIs, software, and demo systems.
- Ensure all equipment (cameras, lighting, microphones, displays) is ready for sessions.
- Keep clear documentation of lab systems and processes.
AI Workflows & Prototyping
- Build, test, and iterate practical AI workflows using modern tools.
- Prototype AI solutions and demonstrations for workshops and client sessions.
- Experiment with new AI tools and identify useful applications.
- Develop reusable systems that support AI-enabled work.
Video & Content Production
- Set up and operate cameras, lighting, and recording equipment for training sessions and events.
- Record and edit educational videos, demonstrations, and training materials.
- Help develop media content for workshops and online learning.
Workshops & Events
- Support the technical setup and delivery of AI workshops.
- Help participants experiment with AI tools and troubleshoot issues during sessions.
- Assist facilitators with demonstrations and exercises.
Lab Community & Visitor Experience
- Welcome visitors, help them get oriented, and explain AI tools in clear, simple language.
- Support students, founders, and organisations exploring AI in the space.
- Help create an engaging, collaborative environment.
AI Accelerator Projects
- Assist in building AI tools and prototypes for clients.
- Help create internal resources, guides, and demonstrations.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to how the lab operates.
Who You Are
You’re naturally curious about technology, especially AI. You’re probably already experimenting with tools like Claude Code, ChatGPT, or other AI platforms — building small automations, prompts, workflows, or prototypes for yourself. When you see a problem, your instinct isn’t just to solve it once. You start thinking: “How could I build a system so this solves itself next time?” You enjoy figuring things out, testing ideas, and improving setups until they work smoothly. You’re also a people person. The lab is a social environment, so you should be comfortable welcoming visitors, explaining tools, and helping people get started — sometimes talking to many new people in a single day. Approachable, helpful, and confident explaining things simply. If you’re the kind of person who wakes up thinking “I wonder what I can build with AI today?”, you’ll probably feel at home here.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Genuine curiosity about AI and a habit of experimenting with new tools.
- Ability to learn a new AI tool quickly and explain it to someone else.
- Experience building simple AI workflows or automations.
- Comfortable recording and editing short videos.
- Practical experience setting up cameras, lighting, and microphones.
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence speaking with new people throughout the day.
- Reliable, punctual, and happy to take ownership of a physical space.
Nice to Have
- Experience with API integrations or no-code/low-code platforms.
- Background in education, training, or workshop facilitation.
- Familiarity with content management or online course platforms.
- Experience supporting live events or demonstrations.
Practical Details
- Location: AI Adoption Lab, Design District, North Greenwich, London.
- Working pattern: Full-time, on-site (this is not a remote or hybrid role).
- Right to work: Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor visas for this role.
- Commute: You should be able to commute reliably to North Greenwich each working day.
How to Apply
No CV. No cover letter. Just a video.
Send us a short video (one to two minutes) that does two things:
- Tells us a bit about you and why this role interests you.
- Shows us something impressive you’ve built or done with AI.
That’s it. If you’ve already got a video that shows off your AI work, feel free to link to it. If you want to make something new, go for it. We’re not looking for production quality — we’re looking for curiosity, capability, and enthusiasm. If you can’t be bothered to make the video, we’re probably not the right fit for each other.
Send your video or link to hello@aiaccelerator.uk.
The AI Accelerator is committed to building a diverse team. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences.
